In the following set of instructions, you will learn how to install a kitchen sink drain and drainage pipes. Prepare your work space.

Shut off hot and cold water to the sink and clean area under sink bowl. Apply a thin beading of plumbers putty around the circumference of the hole Kitchen drain hook up the sink bowl. Insert the top half of drain insert into the hole in the sink bowl. Apply rubber gasket, cardboard ring and metal fastener to the underside of sink drain and tighten.

Remove the excess plumbers putty from inside sink bowl around the drain.

Be sure to include a P-trap located as close to the drainage pipe that is coming out of the wall or floor as possible. Include a dishwasher drain attachment if needed.

ABS cement dries within seconds after pieces are inserted together. Do not install final ABS pipe located directly before the metal sink drain.

Prepare a brass "Kitchen drain hook up" attachment by inserting the pipe into the fastener and lay plastic gasket inside opening. Loosen the fastener on the ABS pipe-metal sink drain connector and insert the brass pipe into it.

Attach brass fitting to sink drain and tighten. Do not tighten ABS pipe-metal sink drain attachment. Turn hot and cold water back on. Run water for 5 minutes assuring no leaks are present.
